We conducted eye tests, dental checkups, education classes and handed out numerous sunglasses, reading glasses, eye drops, dental kits and health supplements. Here is a collection of photos from our volunteers and photographers.
Sight to Sky conducted our fifth year of free primary health clinic back in across the Changthang plateau in Ladakh, our second trip back to this area. This time, we focused on the large hamlet villages of Kungyam, Chumathang, Skidmyang, Puga and Korzok. Our Opthomologists and volunteers saw a total number of 1169 patients, who were screened and given eye care education, UV protection sunglasses and lubricant eye drops (non-medicative, saline only) for relief of dry eyes. Our Dental team also screened and distributed dental health education to 140 patients.
We collected a list of 31 patients requiring cataract surgery and have sent this list to Young Drukpa Association for follow up and potential surgery at the Ladakh Eye camp in conjunction with Tilganga Institute and we will sponsor the transport and accommodation of these patients if necessary. A total of 52 patients requiring sight correction have been refracted and prescribed custom made spectacles from Delhi. The trip was made successful with the contribution of our 28 volunteers on our largest trip yet and ended with a fundraising climb up the 6200m Mentok Kangri, of which 15 members our of 17 submitted safely.
