Year 2015 Trip
With a team of 12 volunteers, our 4th project in Ladakh focused on the remote area of Nubra Valley. Where the Sight To Sky mobile eye clinic served more than 1500 patients in less than a week, and had tirelessly distributed sunglasses, eye drops, reading glasses and eye care education. This trip saw us crossed the world’s highest motor able pass, Khardungla, and bringing our mobile eye clinic to 5 villages along the valley finishing up in Turtuk, the last village just 10km from Pakistan. Despite the remoteness of the valley, there is a thriving population of a Muslim community, known as Baltis, many of whom were separated from their families during the Partition era. The team also revisited a village in Zanskar where we had previously recee in 2014 to deliver a much needed eye screening and had delivered prescriptive glasses that we have sponsored.
