Our 3rd year back to Ladakh saw us venturing to Zanskar Valley, and this trip marks the longest and most epic journey we have ever taken, due to lack of road infrastructure, political and border issues. We brought along a Vision, Women’s Health and Dental team setting up our largest Mobile Health Clinic project to date. Taking a 2 day long unpaved road journey to reach Zanskar, and over 5 days of clinic, we served more than 1700 patients – we have given out 1300 adult and children sunglasses, 800 reading glasses, completed 50 extractions, 50 fillings, 13 root canals and gave over 45 hours of healthcare education. This year, we also sponsored the cataract surgery of nomad from our 2013 mission, Mr. Urgain. With some of our volunteers, we had also completed the Zanskar Valley trek over 4 days and had managed to recee the needs of the villages in Zanskar for future missions.
Special thanks to all our the donors, sponsors, friends and family that made this trip happen one way or another. Patricia Lee for giving us over 100 toothbrush sets, Chander Agarwal of TCL Logistics, Yaw Heng from Bausch & Lomb and Padma Tashi from YDA Ladakh for helping us with our cataract patients.
